Sharp Smart Remote App Reviews

I tried EVERYTHING to connect this stupid app with my Sharp Aquos tv and after hours of trying different internet connection methods to ensure the phone and tv were on the same network, I GOT NOTHING...just says "unable to find tv"?!?!?! Am I missing something here????
